Here's some tips I got from the internet

Preparation

Important number to add to your handphone: NParks Information Kiosk: 6542-4108 (8.30am - 5.00pm daily)

Things to bring and/or wear:

At least 1 litre of drinking water - you can buy drinks along the way.
Snacks to enjoy a picnic by the beach.
A cap and sunblock but also a raincoat or poncho - both sun and rain are frequent and unpredictable!
Insect repellant, especially if you are vulnerable to insect bites.
Use shoes - covered-toes, laced and hard soles.
First aid kit.
Have a GOOD breakfast before the ride (at Changi Village or Pulau Ubin).
We recommend an early start e.g. 8am (not likely for us)- so begin with breakfast and end by lunch.

OUTING TO UBIN UPDATED!

Hi Guys,
So sorry, i have not been updating.
Too busy gambling at Genting Highland's casino. Hehe.
Alright, coming up, our very important class outing!
Date has been set for 18th April 2009.
Time would be 9am to 1 or 2pm at Changi Village Bus Terminal.
Do form your own mini group and go together.
Only buses that reach there would be No 2 and 29.
A ONE way Boat ride is $2.50. Thus a return trip would be $5.
Whole day rental of bicycles would cost $3-$5.
I have choosen a cycle trail that would take about 3hours

Western Ubin (German Girl Shrine and former Thai temple; 3 hours)
Jalan Jelutong.
Pekan Quarry and heronry Lookout Point
Jalan Endut Senin, passes Sg Jelutong
Sg Jelutong bridge - coconut stall (opens late morning during weekends)
"Why You So Like That?" stall - buy drinks from Uncle Leong Kiat, the friendly and chatty owner growing herbs. Also a view of Ubin Quarry.
Jalan Endut Senin, resort on left
Sg Puaka - view of prawn ponds: mudskippers and fiddler crabs at low tide
At fork after Sg Puaka, go straight (not turn right) - leads to the German Girl shrine [read about the "Mystery Girl of Ubin" ].
Ketam Mountain Bike Park - Blue Diamond Trail is passable to average cyclists but make way to other riders. This leads to lookout point with views of Ketam Quarry and mainland Singapore.
On the way back - optional turn into Jalan Wat Siam to see Chinese cemetery on right of slope. Sharp right (do not enter OBS land) turn leads to site of former Thai Temple (now relocated to Punggol).
Follow trail to the north coast to see Western Straits of Johor, the Ubin coastal fence and the souther Johor (Malaysian) coastline (north coast view).
Turn back.

And lastly, please start thinking of the changing of sub-groups for year 2- whether you guys want to draw lots or choose your own group mates. We have to nominate another class committee again too.

hey all.

Sorry this blog is SO dead. our bad. ok so we have finished 1 skill test. Still left with HA, which will start from next week onwards. Please start to get ready. This Friday, 9/01/09 is E-Learning Day. So no school! But please log-in and download the required materials ya.

I know Ms Susan said it'll either be Abdomen or Thorax and Lungs. But i have heard from quite a few other students in other groups that their teacher mentioned Cardiovascular. So perhaps you guys could be diligent and revise through that as well in case.

Reminders:
CCS presentations are coming up; next week onwards. Wk 14, 15 and 16 for Scenarios 1, 2, and 3+4 respectively. Also, we have a CCS essay due in Week 17, Monday 2/2/08, 12nn alrighty?

Psychology presentations due in Week 15, for the other 2 groups.

Bio Sci practical is next Thursday. KIV. I can't confirm the details yet. Study hard! =)

I know the timetable for these few weeks can be quite erratic. If you have any doubts, do feel free to ask Audrey(cos' i'm equally as clueless sometimes. lol.).

Welfare & Class outing

Hi guys!
As we all know, birthday's are an important part of our lives. So, what I have decided is to set up a Welfare Team. Their main job would be to get presents or plan a small party for all the birthday pple. To make it convenient, we would have a monthly mini celebration for those whoes bday fall in the same month. or we would get an indiviual present. Money would come from the class funds and documented accordingly. I would like to nominate Li Ping to be in charge of this team.

Li Ping, can you get an assistant who is not holding on to any role currently to help you with this? Thanks

Another thing is our class outing, i know everybody is busy with lots of stuff but i hope this time round we can make an effort to do some group bonding.

Ideal date for class bonding session is 6th Dec 08 Fri or 12th Dec 08 Fri. (After lessons)

2) Bowling session
3) Ice Skating @Kallang Leisure Park

The cards are due 20th Nov, Thurs(1 day grace till 21st). I will remind everyone again as the date draws closer.

Collection of donations is not mandatory and if you don't feel obliged to, please return it with at least a personal donation, and not an empty envelope.

On the other hand, those who are eager to collect donations, please be informed that you can only approach people that you know(ie. not strangers). No soliciting at public places because you'll need a license for that.

Last one, loss of donation card is a very serious matter.You'll have to report the loss to the police immediately together with the serial no. of your card.

please do get ready your shoulder pad for lab from tomorrow onwards. You had the weekend to get it and sew on the stitches and the drainage tube. =)

and please prepare your stuff for HS1093 from Thursday onwards! Stethoscope, pen torch etc. Look at the HS1093 previous post for reference. Do be informed that from this Thursday onwards, all pieces of work during our assessment of our partners will have to be handed in! Remember!

Order for Textbook and others

Hi guys,

Please get ready the payment for the Physical examination & health assesment by Jarvis. C by 28th oct 2008 tues. I should be getting the books by Week 3. Exact date still not confirm but anymore delay, I will call the vendor to complain personally. :)

Gao Min is our new class treasurer. Please give her $2 by end of this week (week 2) for this semester's collection. Class funds will be used for class outing or to buy extra notes that might be required for lessons. So please do contribute. Thus far, the stationary that has been bought and I know of is, some transparency and markers. They will be distributed equally to the 4 sub-groups.

I would like to take a class photo to add in our very plain blog, so can we all stay back this Fri (24th oct) for a short while to take one? Dress up if you want to look good!!!!!!
